Members of the Sectoral Council of External Assistance in the field of official statistics met on October 4 to present the progress in the development of the official statistics sector and to assess the current situation regarding the needs of external assistance for the development of the National Statistical System in the next period.
21.09.2022 Training on building capacity of the national statistical system in terms of international standards
About 70 representatives of the central public authorities, other institutions and organizations involved in the development of official statistics participated on September 20 in the workshop on strengthening the capacities of the National Statistical System to use international standards in the field of official statistics.
30.08.2022 Data revision policy, in accordance with the good European practices, approved by the NBS
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in order to improve the transparency of the revision processes, to ensure good information and efficient communication with users, has developed and approved by Order No. 35 of 30 August 2022 the Data Revision Policy. The document presents a set of guidelines, general and specific principles governing the revisions of statistical information produced by the NBS.
19.07.2022 The statistical publication "Education in the Republic of Moldova" edition 2022 has been posted on the website in electronic format
The publication contains main statistical indicators that characterize the educational system of the country for the period 2010-2021. Data are represented by educational levels: early education, primary and general secondary education, vocational education, higher education, doctorate, regional statistics, statistical data by International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 2011).

The National Bureau of Statistics presents a new edition of the statistical pocketbook "Moldova in figures" (English version). This edition comes with a revised and improved format compared to previous editions, in order to facilitate the understanding of statistical data by the general public and to increase interest in them.
05.07.2022 The National Bureau of Statistics is launching a new version of the official website in testing mode
The National Bureau of Statistics is launching, in testing mode, a new version of the official website with the address new.statistica.md. The purpose of testing site is to collect feedback from users and gradually familiarize them with the new site. Thus, we invite all users to browse the new site and contribute to its improvement by offering suggestions and appreciations.
05.07.2022 The National Bureau of Statistics has increased its capacity to collect and generate statistics according to the international standards with the support of the European Union
The activities result of the Project "Technical Assistance to the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova" (ParStat) were presented at the final conference of the project, held today, July 5, in Chisinau. The project managed to strengthen institutional cooperation between the National Statistics Office of the Republic of Moldova (NBS) and a number of European national institutions responsible for statistics and contributed significantly to the process of modernizing the National Statistical System of the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the European and international standards.

03.06.2022 Public event organized by the NBS as part of the global campaign to promote the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics
On June 2, 2022, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) organized the public event entitled “Application of the Fundamental Principle of Official Statistics no. 9 “Use of international standards” in the Republic of Moldova”. The event was carried out in the context of the campaign to promote the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics at international level, which this year marks the 30th anniversary of its adoption by the United Nations Economic Commission (UNECE).

During 2022, the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) it is marked. On the occasion of this anniversary, an international campaign has been launched to promote the 10 Fundamental Principles that underpin the statistical work of the world's countries.

The National Bureau of Statistics approved by order no. 51 of 31 December 2021 „Regulation on access to individual data for scientific purposes" and „Publication guide for examining requests for access to individual data for scientific purposes".

The compilation presents statistical data in the form of tables from various domains: territorial-administrative organization, environment, population, labour force, population incomes and expenditures, prices, dwellings, education, health protection, culture, tourism, crimes, Regional Gross Domestic Product, industry, agriculture, investments in long term assets, constructions, transport, information technologies, retail trade, entrepreneurship.
30.12.2021 The statistical compilation "Natural resources and environment in Republic of Moldova", edition 2021, published on the web
The publication contains statistics concerning the air protection in atmosphere, the use of aquatic resources, the existence of land and forestry resources, formation and use of consumption and production waste, protected natural areas, the association of hunting, violations of ecologic legislation. For the first time chapters regarding natural disasters and change of weather were included in the publication.
29.12.2021 NBS continues to gradually implement the methodology of the European system of integrated statistics on social protection (ESSPROS)
On 20 and 21 December, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) organized an online workshop with an EU expert to discuss the implementation of the methodology of the 'European System of integrated Social Protection Statistics' (ESSPROS) in the Republic of Moldova. During the workshop, NBS representatives presented the activities carried out during 2021, including the social protection schemes identified at national level, as well as the challenges encountered when compiling the data in accordance with the ESSPROS methodology. During the event, the steps to be taken by Moldova to complete the collection of relevant data and cover all social protection schemes were discussed, including the financial flows of expenses and incomes of employers and non-profit organizations.
29.12.2021 The statistical publication „National Accounts 2020 and Regional Accounts 2019", edition 2021, posted on the webpage
The publication includes the national non - financial accounts for 2020, prepared in accordance with the methodology of the United Nations System of National Accounts, version 2008. The collection is structured in 8 chapters that refers to the: macroeconomic indicators; consolidated accounts; accounts by institutional sectors; accounts by institutional sectors and economic activities; gross domestic product by type of ownership; the small and medium enterprise sector; integrated economic accounts; regional gross domestic product.
28.12.2021 NBS presented the draft of the new ICT questionnaire for the enterprises
The National Bureau of Statistics presented the draft of the new questionnaire on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in enterprises, in line with the requirements of Eurostat - the EU's statistical body. During this activity, NBS was assisted by an international expert, Virginia Balea, working at the Romanian National Institute of Statistics.
24.12.2021 „Statistical Yearbook of the Republic of Moldova", edition 2021 posted on the website
The yearbook contains the most recent statistical data available in various fields, for economic and social characterization of the country in 2020, as well as the evolution in recent years of the main indicators. The data on some indicators are revised compared to those previously published, and for 2020 some indicators are preliminary and in further editions can be revised. The relative indicators reported to the number of population were revised based on the usual resident population.
