The 5th Steering Committee meeting of the EU-funded project „Technical Assistance to Support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova”
The Steering Committee Meeting of the EU funded project „Technical Assistance to Support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova” (ParStat project) was organised on 25th January 2022 to present and discuss the activities implemented during the previous semester and the activities planned in the first half of 2022.

Publication "Territorial statistics", edition 2021, posted on the web page
The compilation presents statistical data in the form of tables from various domains: territorial-administrative organization, environment, population, labour force, population incomes and expenditures, prices, dwellings, education, health protection, culture, tourism, crimes, Regional Gross Domestic Product, industry, agriculture, investments in long term assets, constructions, transport, information technologies, retail trade, entrepreneurship.

The statistical compilation "Natural resources and environment in Republic of Moldova", edition 2021, published on the web
The publication contains statistics concerning the air protection in atmosphere, the use of aquatic resources, the existence of land and forestry resources, formation and use of consumption and production waste, protected natural areas, the association of hunting, violations of ecologic legislation. For the first time chapters regarding natural disasters and change of weather were included in the publication.

NBS continues to gradually implement the methodology of the European system of integrated statistics on social protection (ESSPROS)
On 20 and 21 December, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) organized an online workshop with an EU expert to discuss the implementation of the methodology of the 'European System of integrated Social Protection Statistics' (ESSPROS) in the Republic of Moldova. During the workshop, NBS representatives presented the activities carried out during 2021, including the social protection schemes identified at national level, as well as the challenges encountered when compiling the data in accordance with the ESSPROS methodology. During the event, the steps to be taken by Moldova to complete the collection of relevant data and cover all social protection schemes were discussed, including the financial flows of expenses and incomes of employers and non-profit organizations.

The statistical publication „National Accounts 2020 and Regional Accounts 2019", edition 2021, posted on the webpage
The publication includes the national non - financial accounts for 2020, prepared in accordance with the methodology of the United Nations System of National Accounts, version 2008. The collection is structured in 8 chapters that refers to the: macroeconomic indicators; consolidated accounts; accounts by institutional sectors; accounts by institutional sectors and economic activities; gross domestic product by type of ownership; the small and medium enterprise sector; integrated economic accounts; regional gross domestic product.

NBS presented the draft of the new ICT questionnaire for the enterprises
The National Bureau of Statistics presented the draft of the new questionnaire on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in enterprises, in line with the requirements of Eurostat - the EU's statistical body. During this activity, NBS was assisted by an international expert, Virginia Balea, working at the Romanian National Institute of Statistics.

„Statistical Yearbook of the Republic of Moldova", edition 2021 posted on the website
The yearbook contains the most recent statistical data available in various fields, for economic and social characterization of the country in 2020, as well as the evolution in recent years of the main indicators. The data on some indicators are revised compared to those previously published, and for 2020 some indicators are preliminary and in further editions can be revised. The relative indicators reported to the number of population were revised based on the usual resident population.

The Statistical yearbook "Chisinau in figures" is the most complete publication, which comprises statistical data regarding the demographic, social and economic situation of the municipality. The yearbook is structured in 16 chapters, containing information from various fields: general data, population, labour force, population incomes and expenditures, education, culture and sport, health protection and social protection, dwellings and public utilities, environment, justice.

NBS will use a revised questionnaire for the 2021 annual structural survey
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has completed the revision of the questionnaire for the annual structural survey, according to the latest European requirements on Structural Business Statistics (SBS). Peter Bøegh Nielsen, from the National Institute of Statistics of Denmark, has assisted the NBS in updating the questionnaire, which will be applied in the reporting year 2021.

Implementation of a public opinion poll on data users’ satisfaction with official statistics disseminated by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova
The EU funded project “Technical Assistance to Support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova” (ParStat) is seeking national organisations with relevant experience in user satisfaction surveys to carry out a public survey to determine users’ satisfaction level with the statistical information and services provided by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova.

Education statistics assessed by Eurostat
The production and dissemination of education statistics are assessed by a team of experts under contract of Eurostat - the statistical office of the European Union. The sector review mission of experts Dr. Gaetano Ferrieri and Mrs. Irja Blomqvist, offered at the request of the NBS, has taken place during November 22-25.

National Bureau of Statistics has started testing the CAPI method of collecting data in households
From October 4 to 8, a number of specialists, including interview operators from the National Bureau of Statistics, participated to a workshop aimed at testing and practicing CAPI application. For the first time NBS is testing the CAPI method of household data collection for the Labor Force Survey.

Exchange of experience between the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and the Central Bureau of Statistics of Latvia on data confidentiality in disseminating the statistical information on international trade
On September 16, an online meeting took place between the representatives of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and Anželika Pavlova, representative of the Latvian Statistical Office. The Latvian experience in disseminating data on international trade was presented in the meeting, in the context of complying with the confidentiality of statistical data, in accordance with European Union and international best practices and standards.

Starting with the mid-June, 48 field operators are collecting data to update the digital maps of the Republic of Moldova, contributing to the creation of a statistical geodatabase at the National Bureau of Statistics.

National Bureau of Statistics launches the first user satisfaction survey with statistical products and services
National Bureau of Statistics launches today June 30, the Online survey „User satisfaction with NBS products and services”, being the first from online survey series which the statistical office plans to conduct regularly. The purpose of this user survey is to evaluate the degree of user satisfaction with the products and services provided by the NBS, in order to improve their quality and adapt them to the informational needs of the users.

During 15-18 June, statisticians from the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and Statistics Lithuania (the National Statistical Office of the Republic of Lithuania) met online to share their experience on the structure and functioning of their national statistical systems with a focus on the analysis of the legal frameworks that identify and regulate national statistical offices and other producers of official statistics in their countries.
