Doctoral and postdoctoral activity in 2016

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2016 doctoral studies (cycle III) were conducted in 45 institutions, organized in higher education institutions,  consortium, national and international partnerships.

In the reference year, the number of doctorates represented 1718 persons (excluding foreign students), decreasing by 1.96% as compared to 2015. Almost three-quarters of the total number of PhD students are enrolled in the extramural form of education. In 2016, the number of doctoral candidates diminished both at the intramural (3.3%) and extramural (1.4%).
