The National Bureau of Statistics has a new General Director
At the meeting from July 31, the Government appointed Mr. Oleg Cara as General Director of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova (NBS). Mr. Oleg Cara was designated the winner of the competition for the selection of the general director of the NBS, organized by the State Chancellery, in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 93/2017 on official statistics.
The new director of the NBS has a vast experience of 25 years in the field of statistics, at national and international level. He also has managerial skills developed during the years 1997-2013, when he worked as Deputy General Director of the NBS.
During the years 2013-2015, Mr. Oleg Cara held the position of coordinating scientific researcher within the National Institute for Economic Research.
From 2015 until now, he has worked as a statistician in the Statistical Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with headquarters in Rome.
Oleg Cara is a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and author of 20 published scientific papers, as well as numerous presentations at various international events in the field of statistics.
The new General Director of the NBS will start his activity on September 7, 2020 and will hold this position for the next 5 years.
