Exchange experience between the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and the National Statistical Office of Lithuania
At the opening of the event, the NBS General Director Oleg Cara thanked the representatives of Statistics Lithuania for cooperation and advisory support provided to the Republic of Moldova: “NBS is currently focusing on the legal aspects related to strengthening statistical coordination at the country level and in particular on identifying all producers of official statistics in the Republic of Moldova. This is impossible to achieve without taking into account legal and operational aspects, related to the application of Law 93/2017 on official statistics, as well as the advanced experience of other European countries, such as Lithuania”, Oleg Cara noted.
In turn, Jūratė Petrauskienė, General Director of Statistics Lithuania, expressed the willingness and availability of the statistical Institution she represents to continue the successful cooperation of the Lithuanian experts with the colleagues from the Republic of Moldova.
Over the course of three days, several presentations were moderated by experts from the National Statistical Office of the Republic of Lithuania, followed by technical discussions between colleagues from the two statistical offices. Relevant contributions were provided by the project experts Sergiu Bozianu and Mike Hughes. During the discussions were covered such as topics as Lithuania's national statistical system, coordination and cooperation of the Central Statistical Office with other producers of official statistics, criteria for identifying and agreeing with official statistical producers, statistical work program, methodologies and quality reports, dissemination and communication of statistics within the national statistical system etc.
The event was organized within the "Technical Assistance to Support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova" EU project.
