Under-utilization of the labor force in the Republic of Moldova in the first quarter of 2022
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that according to the results of the Labor Force Survey (LFS), the under-employed labor force for the age of 15 years and older constituted 62,4 thousand persons in the first quarter of 2022, decreasing by 23,3% compared to the first quarter of 2021 and by 21,3% compared to the first quarter of 2020. The share of under-utilized labor in the total extended labor force (under-employment rate) was of 7,2%, less than the values recorded in the first quarter of 2021 and 2020 and up from the previous quarter.
All components of the under-employed workforce (ILO Unemployed, under-employed people and potential labor force) recorded lower values compared to the first quarter of 2020 and 2021.
