Statistics Through Eastern Partnership
Overall objective:
To strengthen the statistical evidence base through more and better quality official statistics produced in the Easter Partnership countries, in line with the European Statistics Code of Practice and the goals of the Eastern Partnership.
Involved countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
Project priority areas:
Economic statistics: macroeconomic statistics, government finance statistics, foreign trade statistics, business statistics, price statistics, transport statistics, energy statistics and agricultural statistics.
Social statistics: demographic statistics, labour market statistics, poverty statistics, gender statistics, statistics for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). (For the 3 countries with EU association agreements national SDG indicator framework should be developed based on UN and EU frameworks.)
Statistical governance: organisation and management of the National Statistical System (legal framework and planning of statistical activities), quality, management and training of human resources, relations with users.
The activities strive to reach four main results in the partner countries:
- Improve production and dissemination of high quality statistics in line with international and European standards;
- Harmonise statistical methodologies with international and European standards;
- Strengthening the institutional capacity of NSOs in the region in accordance with the principles set out in the Code of standards for European statistics;
- Enhance evidence-based policy-making through increasing the amount of reliable statistics.
