Elderly population in the Republic of Moldova in 2009

National Bureau of Statistics informs that at the beginning of the year 2010 in the Repblic of Moldova lived 500,4 thousand persons of 60 years old and over , of which women represent more than a half (60,6%). Two thirds of the entire aged population live in rural area.  Every fourth person is between 60-64 years old and 14,0% are persons wich are more than 80 years old.
