National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the number of children of the Republic of Moldova as of January 1, 2019 was 669,6 thousand children, thus each fifth person was aged up to 18 years old.

                       

The birth rate was estimated at 9,2 live-births per 1000 inhabitants. The birth rate in the rural localities (10,2‰) is higher in comparison with the urban area (7,9‰). Of total live-births 51,7% were boys, male gender ratio being 107 boys per 100 girls.
