Exchange of experience between the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and the Central Bureau of
Statistics of Latvia on data confidentiality in disseminating the statistical information on international trade
The Latvian expert noted that, in accordance with the EU and UN recommendations, the principle of „passive confidentiality" is used when disseminating statistical data on international trade to users, which provides for the dissemination of data at the highest level of detail by type of goods, by exporting and importing countries, even if the generalised information intended for dissemination contains aggregated data referring to fewer than three exporters or importers. During the meeting the main tools for disseminating information on International Trade (Database, press releases, statistical publications, etc.) were presented.
At the end of the discussion, NBS Deputy Director-General, Iurie Mocanu, noted that Latvian experience is very relevant for NBS in the context of the current adjustment of national statistical legislation and meeting the increasing information needs of users regarding the international trade statistical data.
The event was organized within the „Technical assistance to support the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova” project funded by the European Union.
