On October 3rd, the top management and specialists of the National Bureau of Statistics had a meeting with the representatives of the World Bank mission from the Poverty and Equity Program, with the office in Washington, Trang Nguyen, senior economist, and Kristina Vaughan, economist, who were on a working visit to our country during October 3-6.

Donation of equipment for the modernization of statistical research in the field of population and migration (Video)
To support the National Bureau of Statistic in the process of usual resident population calculation and estimation of international and internal migration at the local level, there was donated a lot of modern equipment valued about $260,000.

National Bureau of Statistics has started testing the CAPI method of collecting data in households
From October 4 to 8, a number of specialists, including interview operators from the National Bureau of Statistics, participated to a workshop aimed at testing and practicing CAPI application. For the first time NBS is testing the CAPI method of household data collection for the Labor Force Survey.

Launch of the "Women's World 2020: Trends and Statistics portal" at the UN World Data Forum
On the occasion of World Statistics Day, between 19-21 October was held the UN World Data Forum, which brings together data and statistical experts and users from governments, civil society, the private sector, donor and philanthropic bodies, international and regional agencies, the geospatial community, the media, academia and professional bodies. Data experts and users gather to spur data innovation, mobilize high-level political and financial support for data, and build a pathway to better data for sustainable development.

October 20, 2020 is an important date for the world of statistics. On this day, the 3rd World Statistics Day is celebrated, with the theme "Connecting the world with data we can trust", an initiative of the United Nations General Assembly. This theme reflects the importance of trust in official data and innovation, the confidence of the public good in national statistical systems.

The seminar "The role of geographic information in statistical production processes and data dissemination"
During 24-28 October, Janusz Dygaszewicz, expert in Geographic Information System (GIS) from the Central Statistical Office of Poland, is in a mission at the National Bureau of Statistics. During the mission recent trends and best practices used in the National Statistical Institutes in EU regarding the spatial statistical analysis and use of statistical cartography were presented.

Tuesday, October 20th 2015, Republic of Moldova celebrated World Statistics Day. On the same occasion, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and National Bureau of Statistics, with STATREG Project support, organized a conference themed "Better statistics for a better life".

Today, October 20, 2015 all member countries of the United Nations Organization are celebrating the World Statistics Day under the motto "Better data. Better lives".
This day was internationally officialised by the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/69/282, and the importance of statistical data for decisions making based on evidence has been stressed by a message of the UN General Secretary, Mr. Ban Ki-moon on August 19, 2015 addressed to the heads of states by which he recognizes "The fundamental importance of sustainable national statistical capacity to produce credible and timely statistics and indicators".

A new animated map on environment has been posted on the website
ational Bureau of Statistics announces that a new animated map "Emission of polluted substances in atmospheric air" has been posted on the official page.Animated data visualisation using this application presents the changes in territorial aspect of indicators related to emission of polluted substances in atmospheric air, including solid, gaseous and liquid substances from 2007 to the present.

"Women and men in agriculture of the Republic of Moldova" leaflet has been posted on the web page
Along the same objective this leaflet provides a basic gender analysis based on sex-disaggregated data collected by the first General Agricultural Census of the Republic of Moldova (carried out in 2011). It highlights main disparities between women and men engaged in agriculture in Moldova, particularly in terms of their access to assets, inputs and services. Understanding specific challenges of female and male farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and workers will enable gender-aware decisions about the sector, leading to more effective, efficient and sustainable solutions.

The use of administrative data for statistical purposes
This was the theme of the international seminar held from October 1-2 in Chisinau. The event was organized by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) jointly with Statistics Norway. Within the seminar was examined current situation on NBS insurance with administrative data by public authorities and other institutions for producing official statistics focus on the problems and how to solve them.

The publication contains information regarding main social and economic aspects which characterize the welfare level of the population, especially incomes, expenditures, housing conditions, availability of durable goods, household food consumption etc. The information is presented based on the Household Budget Survey in the Republic of Moldova for 2011. For the main indicators methodological notes are presented.

The statistical compilation "Labour market in the Republic of Moldova", edition 2012 was posted
The publication characterizes the situation on the labour market in the Republic of Moldova in 2011 compared to previous years. The compilation contains statistical information regarding economically active population, employment, unemployment, work remuneration, labour costs, workforce mobility, use of working time, working conditions, accidents at the working place, professional background.

World Statistics Day celebrated for the first time at international level in the Republic of Moldova
This year, on October 20, all country members of the United Nations Organization celebrated for the first time the World Statistics Day, according to the UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/64/267 adopted on June 3, 2010 under the auspices of the 64th session. The National Bureau of Statistics organized an anniversary event at the Republican Palace, involving local partners: public authorities, academia, business environment, NGOs, etc, and international partners, i.e. representatives of the international organizations accredited in Moldova. During the event, several welcome messages were transfered to the participants, awards granted to the best statisticians, a concert was organized on the occassion of the first celebration of this professional day.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the statistical publication "Education in the Republic of Moldova" edition 2010 has been posted on the website in electronic format. The publicaiton contains main statistical indicators that characterize the educational system of the country furing the period 2000-2009. Data are rpesented by educational levels: pre-primary, primary, day school, secondary vocational, secondary specialized, higher, doctorall and postdoctoral.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the Statistical yearbook "Chisinau in figures" edition 2009 was placed in electronic format on the website. The yearbook is the most complete publication, which comprises statistical data regarding the demographic, social and economic situation of the municipality Chisinau for 2008 in comparison with previous years.
