The population of Republic of Moldova aged 60 years and over more than half of the daily time uses for personal care activities; 30.4% from one day – devotes to working activities for an income (as wage / profit), household and family care, volunteer work and travel / trips and 17.9% - spending leisure time. Differences between time use of women and men for two of the three groups of human activities are insignificant.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, at the beginning of the year 2016, in the Republic of Moldova were registered 592,6 thousand persons aged 60 years and over, representing 16,7% of the total resident population of the country. About 60% of the total number of elderly people are women and 58% live in rural areas. Every third person is aged between 60-64 years and 13,3% are people who are more than 80 years old.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in August 2016 enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport, have transported 1500,4 thou. tonnes of goods, with 25,9% more than in the previous month and with 19,0% compared to August 2015. The turnover of goods in August 2016 summed up 375,3 mio. tonne-km, with 18,0% more than in the previous month and with 11,1% compared to August 2015.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-July 2016 exports of goods amounted 1071,1 mio. USD and imports of goods - 2183,2 mio. USD. Compared to the same period of the 2015, exports decreased with 7,5% and imports with 6,1%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the second quarter of 2016 the Gross domestic product on gross series totaled 31434 mil. lei current market prices, increasing - in real terms - by 1,8% compared to second quarter of 2015. On the series seasonally adjusted, Gross domestic product increased by 1,0% compared to the second quarter of 2015 and by 0,6% compared to the first quarter of 2016.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the indices of industrial production in January-July 2016 compared to January-July 2015 registered 99,2%. In July 2016 compared to July 2015 the indices of industrial production registered 94,8%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in quarter II 2016, monthly disposable incomes of population summed up in average per person 2030,4 lei, which is with 1,7% more than in the similar period of 2015. In real terms (adjusted to the consumer price index) population incomes registered a decrease of 5,8%.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in August 2016 the annual inflation (for the last 12 months from August 2015 to August 2016) registered 3,6%, including: food products – 6,2%, nonfood products – 4,5% and services – (-0,4%). Also the consumer price index (CPI) in August 2016 compared to July 2016 registered 99,6% (in August 2015 compared to July 2015, CPI registered 102,9%).

National Bureau of Statistics communicates precised data on investments in long-term tangible assets in 2015.In 2015 enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownerships carried out investments in long-term tangible assets to the amount of 21 123,3 mio. lei (current prices) from all financing sources. As compared to 2014 this volume decreased with 9,4% (comparable prices).

US dollars, with 5,3% more than in the previous month and with 0,5% more compared to July 2015. In January-July 2016 imports summed up 2183,2 mio. USD, less than in the corresponding period of 2015 with 6,1%.
