National Bureau of Statistics announced that the number of population of the Republic of Moldova on 01.01.2016 amounted to 3,5531 thousand people less than in the same period of 2015 with 2103 people. More than half of the population is represented by rural inhabitants - 2042,0 thousand people, or 57,5%. In urban areas are living 1,5111 thousand persons, or 42,5%. Population by gender takes the next configuration: 51,9% (1844,0 thousand) - female and 48,1% (1,7091 thousand people) - men.

The growth of global agricultural production was caused by an increase of animal production - with 4,4%, with a 99% share of total agricultural production.

Compared to the same period of the 2014, exports decreased by 12,7% and imports by 22,0%. The trade balance deficit in January-February 2015 has been of 260,3 mln. USD, lower by 116,0 mln. USD (-30,8%) than that recorded in the corresponding period of 2014.

National Bureau of Statistics communicates that in 2012 living subsistence constituted in average per person 1507,5 lei, which is with 0,3% more than in 2011. The living subsistence remained practically unchanged comapared to 2011 mainly due to the reduction of prices for some foodstuff products.
